About the Role
OPSiB is seeking a Backend & Data Integration Intern to help transition an existing product prototype into a working MVP for a real-world pilot.
Key Responsibilities
- Build backend APIs using Python and FastAPI.
- Design and manage database schemas using PostgreSQL.
- Develop data ingestion pipelines for CSV/Excel files, including field mapping, validation, and large-data processing.
- Build rule-based exception detection from retail operational data.
- Develop integration foundations for POS, ERP, and WMS systems.
- Implement background jobs, error handling, and data processing workflows.
- Use AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate development.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Python and basic backend development.
- SQL and PostgreSQL fundamentals.
- REST APIs and JSON.
- Data processing using Pandas or similar tools.
- Git/GitHub and debugging skills.
- Familiarity with AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex.
Good to have: FastAPI, cloud deployment, asynchronous processing, API integrations, or experience handling large datasets.
Qualifications
- Students or recent graduates.
- Ability to learn independently.
- Hands-on project experience.
A GitHub profile or deployed project is a plus.

- You'll work directly with the founder and help build the data and backend foundation of a retail technology product preparing for a real-world pilot.
