Intern to Founding Engineer
Navi Operations
About the Role
NAVI is an end-to-end production planning system that connects to a factory's ERP, learns its operations, and uses AI agents plus mathematical optimization for material planning and scheduling. This role is for graduating college seniors, working part-time through their final year, with a direct conversion to a full-time Software Engineer offer in May without re-interviewing. The part-time work serves as the evaluation. The team is small, works on high-stakes problems, and requires an in-person commitment in NYC.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the frontend end to end, from the data model to the user interface.
- Build dense, fast interfaces for real scheduling data, including capacity and due-date views, scenario trees, and constraint views.
- Focus on details that prevent mistakes, such as latency, clarity under pressure, and maintaining a sane state for edge cases and messy ERP data.
- Ship real production code from week one.
- Contribute to product decisions and user experience, working directly with the team.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Graduating May 2027, available full-time immediately after.
- Genuine craft for UI and UX; ability to identify and improve bad interfaces.
- Strong JavaScript and TypeScript fundamentals.
- Creative and proactive problem-solver.
- Low ego; open to changing opinions based on evidence.
- Judgment about AI: knowing when to use models and when to perform tasks manually.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and messy, real-world factory data.
Nice to Have
- Data visualization skills: canvas, SVG, D3, or WebGL.
- A portfolio or design background demonstrating taste.
- Exposure to manufacturing, supply chain, ERP, or operations.
Qualifications
- First round involves a technical interview requiring a small, smart Python script written independently, without AI assistance.
