Civil Engineering Intern

About the Role

TRC is seeking highly motivated and diverse Civil Engineering Interns for our Summer 2027 intern program out of our Chicago, IL Office. This is a paid full-time position. Anticipated duration will be from June through August 2027 (flexible). This position has the potential to transition into a Full-Time role upon graduation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders and partner with engineers, scientists, and technologists.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site visits, surveys and inspections, and assist with data collection, compilation and assessment for infrastructure projects.
• Assist team in the production of project plans, specifications, scheduling, budgeting, technical memorandums and cost estimates. Assist senior staff with various construction management tasks.
• Use computer-assisted engineering and design software to prepare engineering and design documents (examples include software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and GIS).
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary.
• May include field work and occasional driving as part of project responsibilities.
• Fully in-person position.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be flexible, well organized, accountable, and dependable.
• Physically able to perform work in the field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and GIS.
• Honest, fun, hard-working and ready to learn and grow.

Compensation

• Salary Range: USD $20.00 - USD $28.00 /Hr.
• Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program.
