EMT Apprentice (EMS)

About the Role

The EMT Academy is a paid apprenticeship program. Upon successful completion of the 7-week, tuition-free training program, you will become a certified EMT and begin working in either the EMS or Ambulance Services departments.

• EMTs with EMS: Respond to emergency calls, triage scenes, and manage patient care during transport to the Emergency Room.
• EMTs with Ambulance Services: Provide Basic to Advanced Life Support to patients during inter-facility transport.

Key Responsibilities

• Successfully complete the Spartanburg EMS Academy training, including:
• Hospital orientation
• South Carolina Approved EMT program
• BLS training course
• One-on-one orientation with an EMT Instructor for skills assessment and validation
• Orientation on AM and/or PM shifts
• Complete the EMT Course and final exam.
• Take and successfully pass the National Registry of EMTs Exams (Psychomotor and Written).
• Identify areas for improvement and work on self-defined weaknesses.
• Remain committed to unit, department, and division goals.
• Attend continuing education classes as assigned by leadership.
• Adhere to proper chain of command.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding patient information as required by HIPAA.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English Fluently.

Qualifications (Acquired during apprenticeship program)

• Driver's License.
• AHA Basic Life Support provider certification.
• National Registry of EMTs Basic EMT certification.
