About the Role
We are seeking a Robotics Test Engineer to support the testing, validation, and continuous improvement of our autonomous robotic navigation systems. This role will focus on algorithm testing, software release validation, and map optimization. The ideal candidate has a foundational understanding of robotics, strong analytical skills, and an interest in autonomous navigation technologies. This role provides hands-on experience in comprehensive robotic system testing, covering a wide range of software, algorithms, and system functionalities. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to evaluate and improve overall system performance, reliability, and stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct simulation-based and real-world testing of robotic algorithms to verify their performance under various testing conditions.
- Design and execute test cases, collect and analyze test data, identify potential issues, and prepare detailed technical test reports.
- Collaborate closely with algorithm engineers to investigate technical issues, support algorithm optimization, and perform follow-up testing to verify improvements.
- Perform functional, integration, and regression testing of robotic navigation systems and simulation platforms prior to major software releases to ensure system stability and reliability.
- Identify, document, and track software defects, communicate findings to relevant engineering teams, and verify issue resolution through retesting.
- Assist with map validation and optimization, identifying potential mapping issues and supporting improvements to navigation and localization performance.
- Work with cross-functional engineering teams to support comprehensive robotic system testing, troubleshoot technical issues, and contribute to continuous improvements in system performance and reliability.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Basic coding skills in one or more programming languages (C++ and Python are strongly preferred).
- Hands-on experience with MATLAB and ROS/ROS 2 through academic projects, internships, or professional experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or above, in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong sense of responsibility, willingness to learn, and ability to quickly grasp new technical concepts and apply them in a hands-on, collaborative environment.
- Ability to travel to or commute between client’s project locations as needed.
- Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational.
- Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and operational status of assigned facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), automated guided vehicles (AGVs), or other autonomous robotic systems.
- Basic understanding of robotic navigation, localization, mapping, SLAM, or motion control.
- Experience with robotics testing, debugging, data analysis, or technical documentation through academic projects, research, or internships.
- Familiarity with NVIDIA Isaac Sim or similar robotics simulation platforms is preferred.
U.S. Benefits
- Medical insurance, 401(k), PTO.
