Mechanical Design Intern
Zerobots
About Zero Bots
At Zero Bots, we are a fast-paced hardware startup pushing the boundaries of what small-scale, consumer robotics can do.
Role Description
The Mechanical Design Intern role is an internship position and is fully remote (India). The intern will support our engineering and hardware team by conceptualizing, designing, and refining mechanical components, enclosures, and internal mechanisms for our robotic platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing 3D CAD models.
- Optimizing parts for manufacturing (such as 3D printing or injection molding).
- Assisting with thermal and structural considerations for hardware integration.
- Preparing technical drawings for production.
- Collaborating closely with electronics and software engineers.
- Participating in virtual design reviews.
- Ensuring that all mechanical assemblies meet strict quality, functional, and aesthetic requirements.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Strong proficiency in 3D Mechanical Design, Solid Modeling, and Prototyping principles.
- Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) methodologies.
- Solid understanding of mechanical principles, material properties, kinematics, and packaging electronic components (PCBs, motors, sensors) within compact enclosures.
- Ability to iteratively problem-solve.
- Ability to learn new software tools rapidly.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration in a remote, cross-functional team environment.
Qualifications
- Enrollment in or completion of a program in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Design, or a related technical field is preferred.
