About the Role
Mela is hiring for a Video Editor on behalf of a content studio in Mumbai. This role focuses on turning raw footage into engaging videos that maximize watch time and retention.

Key Responsibilities
- Edit long-form and short-form videos, with separate cuts for YouTube, Shorts, and reels.
- Identify the hook in raw footage and capture attention within the first 5–15 seconds.
- Shape the story using pacing, pauses, and visual emphasis.
- Cut for retention, not just continuity.
- Trim unnecessary content while preserving personality.
- Ensure videos are clear on mobile, with appropriate visual density for each audience.
- Collaborate with thumbnail designers to ensure video and thumbnail coherence.
- Handle audio cleanup, basic colour correction, and exports.
- Maintain organized project files for efficient revisions.
- Ship multiple videos weekly under tight publishing schedules.
- Improve retention with every video.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Proficiency in Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.
- Understanding of YouTube-style storytelling and viewer attention dynamics.
- Ability to deliver fast, clean edits without messy timelines.
- Good ear for dialogue and rhythm.
- Skill in delivering clean edits that require minimal revisions.
- Must possess your own laptop for editing.
- Bonus: Experience with After Effects.
- Bonus: Ability to read retention graphs and act on performance feedback.
