Social Media Creator
HashFame
About the Role
HashFame is building a professional network for creators and aims to establish a strong media presence around the people, culture, and contradictions of the creator economy. This role will be the face of our Instagram account, responsible for documenting the creator economy, finding stories, writing scripts, filming, editing, and publishing content. You will be the entire content team, figuring out what works and why.
Key Responsibilities
- Have an unhealthy curiosity about the internet, understanding creator culture, internet humor, emerging formats, memes, and audience behavior.
- Identify contradictions and find stories within ordinary conversations.
- Generate content ideas, write sharp scripts, and develop recurring formats, characters, series, and original IP around creators.
- Appear on camera, develop a distinct on-screen personality (observational, reflective, deadpan, funny without performing, opinionated without being loud, smart without lecturing).
- Own the entire production process: ideation, research, scriptwriting, shooting, on-camera delivery, editing, pacing, subtitles, sound, packaging, captions, covers, publishing, distribution, and performance review.
- Build meaningful organic reach and a recognizable presence by publishing consistently, experimenting with formats, and studying retention metrics.
- Use data to inform decisions while relying on instincts.
- Have a point of view on future content, backed by observation and evidence.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Ability to scale at least one social media account, demonstrating growth from one stage to another.
- Evidence of contribution to account growth, including starting and ending audience numbers, time period, standout content, and personal actions driving growth.
- Understanding of Instagram as a medium.
- Strong writing skills: clean, sharp, and with a sense of rhythm.
- Good eye for editing, pacing, framing, and storytelling.
- Comfort on camera and willingness to be the face of the account.
- Observational skills; ability to notice things others miss.
- Ability to work independently, take feedback constructively, and persevere through underperforming posts.
- Willingness to learn all aspects of content creation, including unglamorous tasks.
- Phone, a decent microphone, and a good idea are key tools.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability is valued over degrees, prestigious employers, or years of experience.
- Spend time on the internet, analyzing it rather than just consuming it.
- Ability to explain content performance (e.g., why a mediocre video got more views than a well-produced one).
- Willingness to test content opinions.
- A sense of humor that doesn't require announcing the joke.
- Preference for making and learning over prolonged presentation preparation.
- Understanding that creative instinct is an advantage, and execution makes it useful.
What this job is NOT
- A glamorous role involving attending events or taking pictures with creators.
- A position where content strategy is handed out weekly.
- A role for those who want to be "around" content rather than actively making it.
How to Apply
Submit:
- Links to social accounts worked on, specifying your contribution.
- Proof of growth: starting/ending followers, timeline, reach growth, and examples of growth-driving content (screenshots or analytics welcome).
- Three best pieces showcasing taste, writing, and execution.
- One original Instagram Reel concept (30-60 seconds) about the creator economy, including hook and rough script.
- A short introduction explaining suitability for the role. Avoid generic cover letters. A small portfolio with real results is preferred over a large one with impressive adjectives.
