About the Role

Skillzenloop is looking for a detail-oriented Medical Coding Intern interested in healthcare documentation, medical terminology, and clinical data classification. The selected candidate will learn medical coding fundamentals, assist with reviewing clinical documentation, and support healthcare data accuracy activities under appropriate supervision. This internship is suitable for candidates who want to develop their understanding of medical coding systems, healthcare documentation, and medical billing workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in reviewing medical records and clinical documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Learn the fundamentals of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems.
• Identify diagnoses, procedures, and relevant medical terminology in clinical documentation.
• Assist in classifying medical information according to approved coding guidelines under supervision.
• Support the review of patient records for missing or inconsistent information.
• Maintain accurate documentation and organised digital records.
• Assist with basic quality checks on coding-related information.
• Learn the relationship between clinical documentation, medical coding, and healthcare billing.
• Refer unclear documentation or coding discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor.
• Follow established healthcare documentation procedures and quality standards.
• Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive healthcare information.
• Participate in learning activities related to medical terminology, anatomy, and coding guidelines.

Skills and Qualifications

• Basic understanding of medical terminology is beneficial.
• Interest in medical coding and healthcare documentation.
• Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology is an advantage.
• Good reading comprehension and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with ICD-10-CM or CPT coding concepts is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with spreadsheets.
• Strong organisational and analytical abilities.
• Ability to follow guidelines and maintain accurate records.
• Willingness to learn medical coding systems and healthcare workflows.
• Commitment to confidentiality and responsible handling of information.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates pursuing or holding a degree or diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology, Nursing, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Zoology, or a related healthcare discipline may apply.
• Candidates with medical coding training or healthcare administration knowledge are also encouraged to apply.
• Freshers and entry-level candidates are welcome.
• Applicants should have access to a computer and a reliable internet connection.

Internship Details

• Duration: 1–3 Months
• Stipend: ₹15,000–₹16,000 per month, subject to applicable internship terms.
