Management Trainee, Design Engineer

About the Programme

• A structured 18-month Management Trainee Programme designed to develop high-potential talent into future professionals and leaders.
• Combines structured on-the-job training, formal learning, mentoring, coaching, and project-based assignments.
• Progressively builds technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership capabilities.
• Consists of three developmental phases with defined learning objectives, competency milestones, and performance reviews.
• Trainees will be based out of China for 18 months.
• Subject to performance, trainees will be confirmed as full-time employees with Sika post-completion.
• Post 18 months, the position will be based out of Pune (Chakan).

About the Department

• The Design Engineering team supports Sika's Automotive & Industry business by developing product solutions.
• Responsible for the design and development of injection molded plastic parts and related components.
• Works closely with customers, project teams, manufacturing, and technical experts.
• Offers hands-on experience in product design, engineering development, customer project support, and innovation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Responsibilities

• Complete all learning milestones and development activities.
• Participate actively in training programmes, workshops, and coaching sessions.
• Learn and apply company policies, business processes, systems, and best practices.
• Support departmental operations and contribute to assigned projects.
• Conduct research, analyse information, and prepare reports or recommendations.
• Collaborate with colleagues across different functions.
• Demonstrate initiative, accountability, professionalism, and a continuous learning mindset.
• Build strong working relationships with mentors, managers, and stakeholders.
• Comply with company policies, procedures, and health, safety, quality, and compliance standards.
• Successfully complete programme assessments and performance reviews.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of injection molded plastic parts through 3D and 2D engineering design.
• Collect and understand customer requirements and assist in developing technical solutions.
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
• Support design change management throughout the product lifecycle.
• Participate in prototype development, testing, and validation activities.
• Assist in DFMEA, APQP, and other product development quality processes.
• Participate in innovation and additive manufacturing projects.
• Support projects aimed at product performance enhancement, weight reduction, and cost optimization.
• Collaborate with customers, manufacturing, quality, and project teams.
• Perform other duties assigned by the department mentor or manager.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Mandatory proficiency in Chinese Language (Speaking).
• Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of Power BI, SQL, data analytics tools, programming languages, or other digital platforms will be an added advantage where applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline.
• Fresh graduates or candidates with up to two (2) years of relevant working experience are encouraged to apply.
