Thrift Associate

About the Role

The Thrift Shop Associate is responsible for the daily operations of the shop, including opening and closing, cash register operation, receiving and processing donations, and merchandising the sales floor.

Key Responsibilities

• Prices, stocks, and merchandises display items for sale.
• Opens, closes, and ensures the thrift shop operates properly during scheduled hours.
• Works closely with volunteers to ensure they can assist in shop operations.
• Maintains accurate receipts of all sales and donations.
• Ensures daily deposits are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Greets customers with a friendly and polite demeanor and thanks them upon entering and leaving.
• Assists the manager in onboarding new volunteers by instructing them on thrift shop operations, office procedures, and safety protocols.
• Assists the manager to ensure the shop, offices, and bathrooms are clean and safe.
• Rotates on a regular schedule as assigned to ensure the shop is clean.
• Cooperates and communicates with the CEO, CFO, Directors, and Blue Ridge Care staff as appropriate.
• Meets as needed with the supervisor and/or manager to review shop needs and assists with ordering inventory.
• Seeks opportunities for professional growth, including demonstrating the ability to receive constructive performance feedback.
• Seeks assistance of supervisor or other resource persons in responding to opportunities for improvement.
• Acts independently and responsibly to perform job duties on a consistent basis.
• Performs additional duties as assigned or deemed necessary.
• Carries out the mission and values of Blue Ridge Care.
• Must provide excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Computer literacy preferred/willingness to learn required.
• Retail experience and customer service preferred.
