About the Role
The Commercial Lending Intern will support the lending operations of Axos Bank’s commercial banking division. Interns will gain exposure to the lifecycle of commercial loans, including underwriting, portfolio management, and originations. This role is ideal for individuals interested in commercial finance, client engagement, and strategic lending practices. The Commercial Lending Operations team is undergoing significant process transformation initiatives, including LoanIQ implementation, workflow automation, reporting enhancements, and operational process documentation. An intern would provide valuable support by assisting with process mapping, data analysis, procedure updates, testing activities, and the development of training and job aid materials. The internship also provides a meaningful development opportunity for individuals interested in banking operations, process improvement, and financial services technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in collecting and reviewing borrower documentation, preparing credit memos, and performing preliminary financial analysis.
- Help monitor existing loan accounts, update client records, and track performance metrics.
- Support the onboarding of new clients, input application data, and coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth processing.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on lending strategy and client relationship management.
- Prepare summaries, reports, and presentations to support lending decisions and internal reviews.
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Interest in commercial finance, client engagement, and strategic lending practices.
- Interest in banking operations, process improvement, and financial services technology.
- Experience with LoanIQ implementation is mentioned as a transformation initiative.
- Familiarity with data analysis, procedure updates, and training material development is beneficial.
Qualifications
- The internship program includes capstone projects, sessions with business leaders, financial literacy training courses, and Corporate Finance Institute trainings.
Note: Salary range is $20.00 - $23.00. Actual starting pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
