About the Role

The Data Analyst will be part of the OWI Analytics team, partnering closely with business stakeholders to translate business questions into structured analyses that drive decision-making. This role goes beyond report production; it requires understanding the "why" behind a request, identifying the right data and methodology, and delivering insights that business partners can act on.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and map business processes end-to-end with stakeholders to identify KPIs that genuinely measure performance, then determine required data for analysis.
  • Partner with Data Engineering and Data Science teams to translate KPI and data requirements into validated data models.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to scope analytical requests, clarify objectives, and identify metrics and data sources before analysis.
  • Create visualizations for global customers: dashboards, cash-flow projections, histograms, projective analysis, financial analysis, KPIs, and SLA reporting.
  • Use SQL to mine data and translate business needs into clear, creative visualizations.
  • Validate data and reporting outputs against SAP as the source-of-truth ERP, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Assess data quality and flag issues to the Data Warehouse team; support data governance practices.
  • Leverage AI tools (e.g., Copilot in Power BI, generative AI for data exploration and narrative summaries) to accelerate insight generation and surface patterns.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and sound judgment to offer input toward problem resolution.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, functional teams, and other data analysts to develop insight-driven visualizations.
  • Support requirements gathering, design, deployment, and change management for reporting projects (entry-level project management).
  • Build and demo prototypes to stakeholders: peer groups, business partners, and senior leaders.
  • Support and train peers/SMEs on report usage, troubleshooting, and results analysis.
  • Develop leadership skills to promote ideas, coordinate work, and plan deliverables within a project team.

Requirements & Tech Stack

  • Microsoft Power BI (required)
  • DEX (Deployment Pipelines/Dataflows Experience) knowledge (strongly preferred)
  • Working knowledge of SAP as an ERP/data validation source
  • Entry-level SQL proficiency for data querying and mining
  • Exposure to AI-assisted analytics tools (Copilot, generative AI for BI) (a plus)

Qualifications

  • Entry-level experience with data analytics concepts: data dictionaries, data mapping, normalization concepts.
  • Basic project management and business process modeling.
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or closely related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical issues to both technical and business audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve problems effectively and in a timely manner.
