About the Role
The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond is seeking an intern for its Research Department to support both its Publications team and its Applied Analysis team. Key Responsibilities
- Research and write a feature-length article for the quarterly economics magazine Econ Focus.

- Assist with the update of economic reports, including organizing and analyzing data, and creating data visualizations.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Stata, SAS, or R (familiarity with a statistical program)
- Experience in use of research techniques (basic knowledge)
- Ability to communicate findings
Qualifications
- At least a 3.5 GPA in economics coursework and overall.
- Some writing/editing experience (e.g., student newspaper or journal) is preferred.
- Passionate about data exploration.
- Team-player willing to work and learn in a collaborative environment, often at a fast pace and under time constraints.
- Submit 2-3 writing samples (ideally on economics, but other topics are acceptable if they demonstrate the ability to write interestingly on complex subject matter for a nontechnical audience).
- Submit a cover letter, college transcript, and resume.
- US Citizenship status is required.

- Candidates should review the Bank’s Employee Code of Conduct for compliance with conflict-of-interest rules and personal investment restrictions.
- Sponsorship is not available for this role.
- Selected candidate is subject to special background check procedures.
- Onsite presence required.
- Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to apply by January 31, 2027.
- This is a temporary, full-time, internship position.
