PYTHON DEVELOPER INTERN (PYTHON, FLASK, APIS)

About the Role

This internship places you on the backend engineering team at Medinex Workforce. You will build RESTful microservices using Python and Flask, connect web applications to databases, write automated background scripts, and structure API integrations.

What you will work on

• Develop, debug, and maintain RESTful API endpoints using Python and Flask.
• Implement data parsing, validation, and serialization logic using libraries like Marshmallow or Pydantic.
• Design and manage relational database schemas and write optimized queries using SQLAlchemy or raw SQL.
• Integrate third-party webhooks, external REST APIs, and automated background data pipelines.
• Implement authentication mechanisms, route guards, and structured HTTP error-handling routines.
• Write unit tests using pytest or unittest to validate endpoint behavior and edge cases.
• Use Git and GitHub for version control, branching workflows, and pull request reviews.
• Share progress in a short daily check-in and attend weekly technical sprint reviews.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Strong foundational grasp of core Python (OOP concepts, decorators, data structures, list comprehensions, exception handling).
• Hands-on familiarity with the Flask microframework and routing mechanics.
• Understanding of client-server architecture, HTTP methods (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE), headers, and JSON structures.
• Basic knowledge of working with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQLite.
• Logical problem-solving abilities and a methodical mindset when tracing bugs.
• A laptop and a stable internet connection.

Helpful but not required

• Familiarity with API testing tools like Postman or Insomnia.
• Experience with Celery, Redis, or background task queues.
• Exposure to Docker containerization or deploying apps to Linux/cloud environments.
• An active GitHub repository with Python backend or API projects.

Qualifications

• Final-year students and recent graduates from B.Tech, B.E., BCA, B.Sc (CS/IT), MCA, or related technical streams.
• Self-taught Python developers who have completed hands-on backend projects.
• Freshers seeking practical, production-level API development experience.
• Candidates available to commit full-time for the duration of the internship (1 to 3 months).
