Full Stack Developer Intern

About the Role

You'll work across the full stack, building frontend interfaces, backend APIs, and database-driven features. You'll spend time understanding how an application works as a complete system, not just how to make an individual component or API function. You'll build interfaces using React and Next.js, develop backend functionality using Node.js and Express, and work with PostgreSQL and MongoDB to manage application data. You'll also work with existing codebases, integrate APIs, debug issues, and contribute to features that become part of our live products.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain frontend applications using React.js and Next.js
• Develop reusable UI components and maintain clean, maintainable frontend code
• Build backend APIs and application functionality using Node.js and Express.js
• Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs and handle application data flows
• Work with PostgreSQL and MongoDB for database operations, data modelling, and queries
• Implement application features involving authentication, authorization, validations, and error handling
• Understand existing codebases and contribute to ongoing product development
• Debug application issues, identify root causes, and improve code quality
• Write clean, readable JavaScript and TypeScript code
• Use Git and GitHub for version control, collaboration, and code reviews
• Test implemented features and handle different application scenarios
• Use AI coding tools responsibly while maintaining ownership of the generated code and its quality

Skills & Understanding

• JavaScript Fundamentals: Strong understanding of JavaScript, ES6+, asynchronous programming, promises, closures, objects, and array methods.
• Frontend Development: Understanding of HTML, CSS, responsive design, and React.js (components, props, state, hooks).
• Next.js Understanding: Familiarity with Next.js fundamentals, routing, rendering, and application structure.
• Backend Development: Basic understanding of Node.js, Express.js, REST APIs, HTTP methods, middleware, and request-response handling.
• Database Fundamentals: Understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, with familiarity in PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• API Integration: Ability to connect frontend applications with backend services and understand JSON-based communication.
• Development Practices: Basic knowledge of Git, GitHub, debugging, and writing maintainable code.
• AI Fluency with Judgment: Comfortable using tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and ChatGPT while understanding, reviewing, and validating the code they generate.
• Practical Experience: Personal projects, academic projects, or hands-on applications demonstrating your ability to build something beyond basic tutorials.
