Question-Answer Data Annotator
Indian Institute of Science (IISc)
About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented content specialist to support our AI-powered document processing system by creating and reviewing question-answer (Q&A) pairs for fields in government scheme application forms. The role requires strong regional knowledge of Bihar's government schemes, forms, and the context in which citizens fill them out, so that the questions created are accurate, relevant, and usable in real-world scenarios.
Key Responsibilities
- Study government scheme forms (state and central schemes applicable in Bihar) to understand their structure, fields, and terminology
- Create detailed, field-specific question-answer pairs that accurately capture the intent of each form field
- Evaluate whether a question is genuinely relevant and necessary for a given field, filtering out redundant, ambiguous, or poorly framed questions
- Review, correct, and validate Q&A pairs
- Maintain consistency in phrasing, terminology, and format across different forms and schemes
- Collaborate with the technical/ML team to ensure the Q&A pairs align with downstream processing needs (OCR/LLM pipeline requirements)
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, or Management
- Working familiarity with government schemes, forms, and local administrative language/terminology
- Strong reading comprehension and writing skills in Hindi (and English, for bilingual forms)
- Ability to think critically about what information a form field is actually asking for, and translate that into clear, relevant questions
- Experience reviewing or editing others' work, with an eye for detail and consistency
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets/documents to organize and track Q&A pairs
Optional Requirements
- Prior exposure to government scheme documentation, form-filling processes, or public service delivery (a strong plus)
- Familiarity with common central and state welfare scheme categories (income certificates, caste certificates, pension schemes, ration card forms, etc.)
- Prior experience mentoring or reviewing intern/junior team output
- Basic understanding of how forms are digitized or processed
What Success Looks Like
- A validated, high-quality bank of question-answer pairs for every form field, contextually accurate and free of ambiguity
- A consistent review process where intern-created content is checked, corrected, and standardized before being finalized
Selection Process
Shortlisted candidates have to go through a 3-months paid (20k INR per month) internship.
