About the Role
The Junior QC Engineer will perform technical quality inspections of raw materials, components, assemblies, and finished modular kitchen products to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances, specifications, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Incoming Quality Inspection (IQC)
- Inspect incoming SS sheets, hardware, hinges, channels, fasteners, glass, ceramic panels, and other purchased components.
- Verify material grade, thickness, dimensions, surface finish, quantity, and supplier specifications.
- Record inspection results and identify non-conforming materials.
- In-Process Quality Control (IPQC)
- Conduct stage-wise inspections during laser cutting, bending, fabrication, bonding, painting, and assembly.
- Verify component dimensions, hole positions, bend angles, flatness, squareness, and alignment against approved engineering drawings.
- Check weld quality, joint finishing, burrs, scratches, dents, and surface defects.
- Inspect ceramic and glass shutters for dimensions, edge finishing, bonding quality, and visible defects.
- Final Quality Inspection (FQI)
- Inspect completed kitchen cabinets, shutters, drawers, wardrobes, and vanity units before dispatch.
- Verify overall dimensions, diagonal measurements, door gaps, alignment, leveling, and fitment.
- Check smooth operation of hinges, drawer channels, soft-close mechanisms, and other hardware.
- Ensure product finish, appearance, assembly, and functionality meet approved specifications.
- Technical Tools & Measurement
- Use vernier calipers, micrometers, measuring tapes, height gauges, try squares, feeler gauges, and angle gauges as applicable.
- Interpret 2D engineering drawings, dimensions, dimensional tolerances, and GD&T symbols at a basic level.
- Maintain measurement records and ensure measuring instruments are calibrated as per schedule.
- Quality Documentation & Corrective Actions
- Prepare incoming, in-process, and final inspection reports.
- Maintain rejection, rework, and non-conformance records.
- Support root cause analysis using 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, and basic 7 QC tools.
- Coordinate with Production, R&D, Purchase, and Dispatch teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Support first-piece inspection, sample approval, and process improvement activities.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing, laser cutting, bending, fabrication, and assembly processes.
- Understanding of engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances, and inspection methods.
- Basic knowledge of 7 QC tools, 5S, Kaizen, and ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Proficiency in MS Excel for inspection reports and quality data.
- Ability to identify defects, analyze deviations, and communicate technical observations.
Qualifications
- Diploma / BE in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience or training in sheet metal fabrication, stainless steel products, modular kitchens, furniture manufacturing, or precision engineering will be an advantage.
