Software Development Engineer

About the Role

Join Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios as a Software Development Engineer on the AI Studios Engineering team. You will build intelligent systems at the intersection of AI and cinematic storytelling, contributing to Nara, an AI-native content creation platform. This platform empowers creators to produce professional animation and live action content featuring world-class intellectual properties at unprecedented speed and scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software components for our AI-native content creation platform, supporting professional animation and live action/VFX workflows.
• Implement features across the stack, including backend services, media processing pipelines, APIs, ML model integrations, and creator-facing tooling.
• Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code.
• Participate in code reviews to both give and receive constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including ML scientists, applied scientists, product managers, and creative professionals, to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Contribute to integrations with industry-standard Digital Content Creation (DCC) tools such as Adobe Animate, After Effects, Maya, and Storyboard Pro.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues in production systems, contributing to operational excellence and system reliability.
• Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to improving system monitoring, alerting, and documentation.
• Continuously learn new technologies, tools, and methodologies relevant to AI/ML systems, media processing, and distributed computing.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Core Experience:
• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Education:
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Programming:
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
• Preferred:
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.

Our mission is to establish Amazon MGM Studios as the definitive leader in AI-enabled content creation. We build Nara, our AI-native platform, along with proprietary AI models (Genies) for animation, Live Action/VFX copilots, and integrations with industry-standard creative tools.
