Marketing & Communications Intern

inara

About the Role

The Marketing & Communications Intern will help own the day-to-day marketing and communications function at inara and shape how the company, Community Capital, and our work across Boston are represented publicly. This is a highly hands-on role for someone who wants real ownership. You will be responsible for turning what is happening across inara into compelling content, campaigns, stories, and experiences that strengthen the brand and increase awareness among institutions, community organizations, employers, and the communities we serve. You will work closely with the founder and broader team to identify stories worth telling across Community Capital Access Programs, Understanding Your Relationship With Money, Community Capital Listening Sessions, institutional partnerships, community events, company milestones, and the broader development of Community Capital as a category. The role will also support campaign development, media and public relations opportunities, community storytelling, event promotion, performance tracking, and continuous improvement of how inara reaches and engages its audiences. The goal is to help build a marketing system that consistently captures what inara is doing, communicates why it matters, and strengthens the company’s position as the infrastructure for structured community capital. This is a full-time internship based in Boston, MA, with a hybrid work structure. There is an opportunity to grow into a long-term role for the right person based on performance, ownership, and company needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage inara’s social media presence, publishing calendar, and day-to-day content execution.
  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns across social media, email, web, events, and community channels.
  • Capture high-quality photography and video at company events, workshops, community programs, meetings, and institutional activities.
  • Create and coordinate short-form video, social posts, carousels, photography, written content, and other marketing assets.
  • Manage and grow inara’s recurring content pillars, including Community Capital Explained, Founder Notes, Understanding Your Relationship With Money, and Community Capital Listening Sessions.
  • Work directly with the founder to develop and coordinate founder-led content while reducing the amount of day-to-day marketing execution that depends on leadership.
  • Identify compelling stories, moments, partnerships, and community activity that should be turned into content.
  • Repurpose events, interviews, workshops, and institutional activity into multiple pieces of useful content.
  • Maintain consistent brand voice, visual quality, and messaging across public-facing channels.
  • Collaborate with product, community, partnerships, and leadership teams to understand what is happening across the company and translate it into strong external communication.
  • Support website content and storytelling in coordination with the website team.
  • Develop partner and institutional marketing materials when needed, using existing company positioning and materials as the foundation.
  • Support media outreach, press opportunities, announcements, and public relations efforts as the company grows.
  • Track content and campaign performance and use data to improve reach, engagement, awareness, and conversion.
  • Help build repeatable marketing workflows and systems so the function can operate consistently without constant founder direction.

Requirements & Tech Stack

  • Hands-on experience creating and managing social media content.
  • Strong content creation ability across writing, photography, short-form video, and visual storytelling.
  • Comfortable attending community events, programs, meetings, and company activities to capture content directly.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to make complex ideas clear and accessible.
  • Strong creative judgment and the ability to recognize compelling stories and marketing opportunities as they happen.
  • Experience developing content calendars, campaigns, or repeatable marketing workflows.
  • Ability to take an idea from concept through execution without requiring constant direction.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard for quality.
  • Comfortable working closely with leadership, product, community, and operations teams.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics, email marketing platforms, design tools, video editing tools, or other digital marketing platforms.
  • Experience with public relations, press materials, media outreach, or community storytelling is a plus.
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Media, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Interest in financial inclusion, community development, fintech, workforce development, or mission-driven organizations.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who combines strong creative instincts with strong ownership. You should be able to understand what is happening across the company, recognize what matters, and turn that activity into strong external communication. You should be comfortable moving between strategy and execution.
