Associate Auditor

About the Role

This is entry-level professional work involving auditing contracted services for the Department and external organizations. Assignments can also include program and financial auditing of internal operations and processes for the Department of Revenue.

Key Responsibilities

• Audit and evaluate program operations and activities of a state agency for proper controls, conformance to standards, contractual compliance, financial soundness, and adherence to regulations and procedures.
• Evaluate department employees and contractors for compliance with department policies and procedures.
• Identify and evaluate management functions using audit procedures to correct deficiencies or non-compliant practices with state and federal standards.
• Interpret applicable federal and state laws, rules, and regulations for agency personnel, contractors, and external organizations.
• Prepare formal audit working papers with observations, findings, evaluations, and recommendations on proposed and existing programs and organizations.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• 0-2 years of professional auditing experience.
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, business administration, or a related business area.
• Willingness to travel periodically statewide, including overnight travel.
• Good communication, interpersonal skills, and writing skills.
• Computer experience required, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards and procedures.
• Ability to demonstrate regular and reliable attendance.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities to meet established deadlines.
