About the Role

The Climate Control Electronics team is design-responsible for the electronic control units (ECUs) that power and control climate control systems across Ford's vehicle lineup. This includes systems supporting blower motors, switches, heated seats, and touch screen features that interface with Ford's broader electrical architecture and vehicle programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own all product deliverables required to deliver a robust electronics solution for an assigned vehicle program, from concept through launch and into production.
  • Act as a technical leader and cross-functional collaborator, ensuring engineering requirements are met at every stage of the Ford product development process while managing cost, quality, and timing.
  • Lead the delivery of all engineering requirements at each development milestone, as defined by the Ford product development process.
  • Support all vehicle prototype builds, product launches, and service issues.
  • Manage product financial status; review proposals to increase or decrease cost and secure approval for changes through the Ford management approval process.
  • Serve as an interactive, key member of the Climate and Lighting team, collaborating closely with engineers, application teams, and supplier teams to support the product and develop robust solutions.
  • Partner with the Vehicle Electrical Program Management Team (PMT) and Program Vehicle Team (PVT) to launch the mechatronics component during prototype and production launch phases.
  • Support development of robust foundation documents, including but not limited to: DFMEA, specifications, D/PVP&R, worst-case circuit analysis (WCCA), and device transmittals.
  • Support Technical Design Reviews (TDR) for module hardware design requirements and module interfaces.
  • Lead cross-functional teams — including vehicle system engineers, other commodity owners, network communications engineers, manufacturing/vehicle operations engineers, and commodity suppliers — to drive timely resolution of program-specific engineering issues.
  • Leverage failure detection strategies such as fault tree analysis, fishbone diagrams, and Is/Is Not analysis.
  • Lead troubleshooting and problem resolution using vehicle CAN network tools; collect and analyze CAN data and review system schematics and vehicle EDS as required.
  • Develop solutions to revise or add features to the appropriate mechatronics component.
  • Lead resolution of warranty and quality issues.

Requirements & Tech Stack

  • Strong knowledge of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Delivery System requirements and specifications.
  • Able to learn the various engineering computer systems (WERS, AVBOM, PPM Audit, Digital Buck, Team Center, Integrator, MS Office, etc.)
  • Experience and expertise in program delivery.
  • Strong Communication and Leadership Skills for cross-functional cooperation and issue resolution.
  • Experience with MS Office, Vector tools such as CANalyzer, use of an oscilloscope and other troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience with Ford product development system applications is a plus (WERS, AVBOM, PPM Audit, Digital Buck, Team Center, Integrator).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Controls Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of Ford D&R process.
  • Experience with electronic circuit design, board layout, and electronic module manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical skills (including 8D, 6-Panel, FMEA).
