Trainee Structural Designer, Food & Beverage

About the Role

Burns & McDonnell India is seeking a Structural Designer to join the Global Facilities (GFS) business unit, focusing on engineering facilities in the North America region. This role involves providing structural CAD services for various facility projects, including those in the food and beverage sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform 3D Modeling and 2D drafting of foundations and steel structures using REVIT (Structural), TEKLA, and AutoCAD.
• Produce construction deliverables such as:
• Foundation detail drawings (piles, spread footing, etc.)
• Foundation plans and elevations
• Foundation sections and details
• Steel detail drawings
• Steel plans, elevations, and sections
• Roads layout and details
• Site grading and drains
• Location layout and key plan
• Bill of Quantities (BOQ) / Material Take-offs (MTOs)
• Underground pits
• Stairs and Ladders
• Advance career by taking on increased engineering design responsibilities in collaboration with the discipline lead engineer.
• Demonstrate commitment as a team player with the ability to work independently.
• Utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Apply good communication skills (verbal & written) and ensure accurate work through self-checking.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering or ITI Civil Draftsman.
• Up to 2 years of experience in industrial/commercial design drafting, development of general arrangement drawings, foundation and steel layouts, foundation detail drawings, steel connection drawings, and modeling of steel and foundations.
• Possess diagrammatic and 3D conceptual skills.
• Working knowledge of International codes and standards (e.g., AISC, ACI, PIP) relevant to the Food and Consumer Industry, Manufacturing, Industrial, and Commercial projects.
