About the Role

The Cyber Security Intern role at Weskill is a remote internship designed to provide practical exposure to core security domains.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in monitoring and analyzing system and network security.
• Document security incidents.
• Support vulnerability assessments under supervision.
• Review application security practices.
• Contribute to basic information security documentation.
• Participate in research related to emerging cyber threats.
• Collaborate with mentors and team members.
• Prepare reports and summaries.
• Follow established security guidelines and best practices.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Foundational skills in Cybersecurity and Cyber concepts, including awareness of common threats and defense mechanisms.
• Skills in Network Security, such as basic understanding of firewalls, network protocols, and secure network design principles.
• Skills in Application Security, including familiarity with secure coding practices and common application vulnerabilities.
• Skills in Information Security, including data protection principles, access control, and security policies.
• Basic knowledge of operating systems, networking fundamentals, and security tools.
• Relevant certifications or coursework (e.g., Security+, networking courses) are a plus.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Attention to detail.
• Capacity to learn quickly in a remote environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
