Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur
Junior Research Fellow (JRF) | Combustion
About the Role
Applications are invited from motivated graduates to work on an ANRF-funded research project at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Jodhpur.
Project Title
Experimental and numerical study of thermoacoustic instabilities in Constant Pressure Sequential Combustor
Funding Agency
Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) – Advanced Research Grant (ARG)
About the Project
The project focuses on the design, development, and experimental investigation of a constant-pressure sequential combustion system fueled with green hydrogen-enriched fuels with particular emphasis on thermoacoustic instabilities. Selected candidates will gain hands-on experience in experimental combustion research, including:
- Experimental diagnostics: Flame imaging, dynamic pressure sensors, and photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) for heat-release-rate fluctuation measurements.
- Experimental rig development: CAD modelling, mechanical design, fabrication coordination, and instrumentation.
- Combustion research: Experimental testing, high-frequency data acquisition, and signal analysis.
- Numerical modelling: Exposure to CFD and combustion simulations, where applicable.
Opportunity for PhD registrations exists.
Eligibility and Monthly Fellowship
- Academic Qualification: M.E./M.Tech./B.Tech/M.Sc. with First Class (60% marks for GEN/OBC, 55% for SC/ST/PH) in Mechanical/Aerospace/Chemical/Physics from a UGC recognized University/Institute, or autonomous bodies like NIPER/IITs/IISERs/NITs/IIITs.
- Monthly Fellowship:
- ₹37,000/month (With GATE/NET Score) + HRA
- ₹28,000/month (Without GATE/NET Score) + HRA
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Essential: Hands-on experience in experimental work.
- Desirable: Prior hands-on CAD modelling and CFD experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Desirable: Willingness to join PhD program.
