About the Role
We are seeking a Robotics & Automation Engineer to design, develop, and test robotic mechanisms, motion-control systems, sensor integration, and semi-autonomous positioning capabilities for Eco-Scanner. The candidate will work on intelligent mechanical movement, motorized alignment, sensor feedback, automated calibration support, and hardware-software integration to help transform the existing prototype into a reliable, intelligent diagnostic platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop robotic mechanisms and automation systems for medical-device positioning and alignment.
- Integrate servo motors, stepper motors, actuators, encoders, IMUs, proximity sensors, and other suitable sensing components.
- Develop closed-loop motion-control algorithms for accurate and repeatable positioning.
- Implement sensor-assisted alignment of imaging components within predefined mechanical and safety limits.
- Develop semi-autonomous positioning and correction functions based on sensor feedback and system measurements.
- Build operator-guidance features that detect positioning errors and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Integrate motor controllers, microcontrollers, embedded processors, and robotics software with the Eco-Scanner hardware platform.
- Develop calibration routines, motion sequences, homing procedures, and fault-detection mechanisms.
- Implement safety interlocks, movement limits, emergency-stop functionality, and appropriate collision-prevention measures.
- Evaluate system repeatability, positioning accuracy, mechanical stability, response time, and operational reliability.
- Collaborate with embedded systems, mechanical design, AI/ML, and biomedical engineering teams to improve system performance.
- Develop simulation models, prototypes, test procedures, technical documentation, and engineering reports.
- Support the development of future robotic accessories and modular automation capabilities for diagnostic applications.
Key Development Objectives
The engineer will contribute to:
- Sensor-guided positioning and alignment of relevant imaging components.
- Semi-autonomous correction of detected positioning errors within validated limits.
- Automated calibration assistance and system-status monitoring.
- Reliable motion control with operator override and safety interlocks.
- Integration of robotics and automation features into the Eco-Scanner modular platform.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Foundational knowledge of robotics, kinematics, sensors, actuators, and motion-control systems.
- Programming proficiency in Python, C++, or embedded C.
- Understanding of feedback control, motor drivers, microcontrollers, and hardware-software integration.
- Ability to troubleshoot electromechanical systems and conduct practical experiments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
Qualifications
- B.Tech/B.E. or M.Tech in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Automation, or a related discipline.
- Fresh graduates with strong robotics projects, competition experience, internships, or working prototypes are encouraged to apply.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with ROS 2, MoveIt, Gazebo, or other robotics simulation and development frameworks.
- Familiarity with PID control, encoder feedback, coordinate transformations, and trajectory planning.
- Experience with STM32, ESP32, ARM-based systems, PLCs, or industrial motion controllers.
- Knowledge of computer vision, sensor fusion, IMUs, depth sensing, or machine-vision-based alignment.
- Familiarity with CAD tools, rapid prototyping, 3D printing, and electromechanical assembly.
- Exposure to medical robotics, imaging systems, laboratory automation, or safety-critical automation.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a hands-on engineer who enjoys building real robotic systems, integrating sensors and actuators, developing control algorithms, and converting experimental prototypes into functional engineering solutions.
Application Requirements
Applicants should submit a resume describing relevant robotics projects, automation systems, control algorithms, embedded programming, CAD designs, or working prototypes.
Safety Considerations
- All automated movement and alignment functions must operate within validated mechanical and operational limits.
- Medical imaging workflows must include appropriate safety interlocks, operator supervision, and applicable radiation-safety controls.
- Autonomous movement must not compromise patient safety or imaging quality.
