Junior Draftswoman

About the Role

Cosmic Designs is a specialized design and permit consultancy. The Junior Draftsperson will support the design team by preparing detailed architectural and structural drawings for building permits and approvals. This full-time, on-site position in Ernakulam involves converting design concepts and sketches into accurate CAD drawings, updating plans based on feedback, and ensuring compliance with relevant building codes and local regulations. The role includes organizing project documentation, coordinating revisions, and maintaining drawing standards and file management systems. The Junior Draftsperson will collaborate closely with senior staff, engineers, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Convert design concepts and sketches into accurate CAD drawings.
• Update plans based on feedback from senior designers and regulatory authorities.
• Ensure drawings comply with relevant building codes and local regulations.
• Organize project documentation.
• Coordinate revisions.
• Maintain drawing standards and file management systems.
• Collaborate with senior staff, engineers, and other stakeholders.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software.
• Basic architectural drafting tools.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and site plans with strong attention to detail.
• Understanding of local building regulations, bylaws, and permit requirements (training or coursework is an advantage).
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Diploma or degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Drafting, or a related field preferred.
• Willingness to learn, take guidance from senior professionals, and adapt to established drawing standards.
• Prior internship or junior-level experience in drafting or building design is an added advantage.
