About Cavalla
Cavalla is reimagining warehouse automation. Our autonomous forklifts automate repetitive tasks and can be reconfigured with the click of a button to support the most demanding logistics operations.
The Role
Perception Engineering Intern. This is a 3-month internship (can be extended to full time depending on performance).
What You'll Do
- Build vision pipelines that fuse camera and depth data into a reliable 3D picture of the scene.
- Develop methods to recover the full 3D position and orientation of objects the forklift needs to engage with, accurately enough to act on.
- Get models and algorithms running in real time on onboard compute.
- Build evaluation tools and metrics.
What We're Looking For
- Solid foundation in 3D geometry, camera models, and coordinate transforms.
- Experience working with point clouds or depth data.
- Hands-on experience training and deploying deep learning models (PyTorch or similar).
- Comfortable debugging on real hardware with noisy, real-world data.
Nice to Have
- Research, competition robotics, or personal robot projects.
Traits We Look For
- Missionary: You care deeply about the work and want to build something that matters.
- Generalist: You understand that changing x in perception changes y and z in planning, control, and hardware.
- Obsessive: Obsession beats experience every time. You get hyperfocused on making things work.
- High Agency: Give you "make this work" and it gets done.
