Sr Electrical Engineer
Alten
About the Role
Design, develop, and test automotive electrical hardware based on electrical architecture and project requirements. This is a senior role requiring independent decision-making, mentoring of junior engineers, and close interaction with overseas customers and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze customer requirements and prepare detailed electrical requirement documents, interacting proactively with overseas customers.
- Develop electrical architecture, research components, and design circuits in compliance with the Global Engineering Process (GEP).
- Perform in-depth analysis and simulation, and prepare design documentation (ME/EE interface, HSIS, WCCA, DFMEA, schematics).
- Optimize designs for cost, manufacturability, testability, and quality.
- Review schematics and PCB layouts, and guide layout engineers and PCB resources on technical challenges.
- Perform board bring-up, testing, and debugging, and verify electrical requirements at component and bench level.
- Debug EMC/EMI issues and provide solutions.
- Prepare test plans, test reports, presentations, ECOs, and ECRs.
- Generate EBOMs with variants, and manage obsolescence and cost-reduction ideas in PLM tools.
- Support manufacturing issues and process improvements.
- Plan, schedule, monitor, and report electrical activities, and integrate core electrical components into application-specific designs.
- Mentor other electrical engineers.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- 8+ years of relevant experience in serial development, with automotive electronics mandatory.
- Hands-on experience in analog, digital, and mixed-signal design, mainly automotive digital design (ADAS platform).
- Working knowledge of microcontroller and microprocessor-based system design.
- Experience with WCCA, DFMEA, and VAVE.
- Working knowledge of I2C, SPI, USB, LIN, and CAN/CAN-FD.
- Experience with EMC/EMI issues, analog circuit simulation, and schematic entry and PCB layout review.
- Ability to carry out product testing for environmental and certification standards.
- Proficiency with lab equipment (precision DMMs, high-frequency DSOs, logic analysers) and SMD soldering.
- 8D problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Fluent English, spoken and written.
Preferred Qualifications
- High-speed interfaces: DDR3/4/5, CSI-2 (FPD-Link III/IV), Ethernet 100/1000BASE-T, PCI/PCIe.
- FPGA knowledge.
- ISO 26262 (hardware part) and FMEDA (Madini).
- Independent PCB design experience.
- Tools: Altium Designer 23+, PSpice/LTSpice/Saber, Mathcad 15/Prime, APIS IQRM 8 (DFMEA), MS Office, PLM tools, MS Project (Project Lead role).
Personal Attributes
- Works independently with accountability and ownership.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Experience with cross-functional and multi-site teams.
- Self-motivated, tenacious, with a go-getter attitude.
- Willing to travel domestically and internationally.
