Tax Intern

About the Role

OOCL North America Group is seeking a Tax Intern for a paid, 6-month, in-office internship in South Jordan, Utah. The position offers flexible hours and a start date in January.

OOCL is a global leader in international container transportation, logistics, and terminal operations. The Financial Control (FINCON) team manages accounting and tax activities for North American business entities across various industries.

Key Responsibilities

The Tax Intern will support the tax team with various compliance tasks, including:

• Gathering and organizing supporting documentation.
• Preparing tax workpapers.
• Reconciling tax-related accounts.
• Maintaining filing calendars.
• Validating tax data.
• Assisting with data collection for tax returns, provisions, and tax audits.
• Compiling tax support schedules and documentation packages.
• Retrieving supporting information from internal departments.
• Assisting in the preparation of preliminary workpapers for U.S., Canadian, Mexican, and Costa Rican tax returns.
• Maintaining tracking logs for filing deadlines and deliverables.
• Assisting with intercompany transaction documentation.
• Supporting audit requests from the IRS, CRA, SAT (Mexico), and the Costa Rica tax authority.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Skills in MS Office: Excel, Word, Outlook.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation.
• Basic understanding of accounting and taxation principles.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask.
