About the Role

EXP is seeking a Structural Intern for its Chicago office to work within the Infrastructure – Transportation business practice. The role involves assisting junior or senior engineers on transportation/structural related planning and design projects. The environment is fast-paced and growth oriented, suited for individuals driven to gain experience in a consulting engineering firm.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with on-site inspections and limited field assignments.
• Utilize CAD programs to assist in the preparation of plan drawings and details.
• Perform rudimentary calculations under the direction of a licensed engineer.
• Assist with preparation of technical specifications and reports.
• Perform material quantity take-offs.
• Organize design calculations.
• Assist project teams in meeting deadlines.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Computer aided drafting (CAD) programs.
• Microsoft Office products.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited civil engineering program.
• Punctuality and maturity – ability to work with minimal direction.
• Ability to work outdoors for limited field assignments.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
