Mechanical Engineering Intern

About the Role

RUHI Laboratories Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a motivated final-year Mechanical Engineering student for a Medical Device R&D internship. This opportunity involves working on real-world medical device R&D projects, focusing on vascular stents, airway stents, and other innovative medical technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to engineering activities across the product development lifecycle, including:
• Medical device design: 3D CAD modelling, component design, and geometry optimization for stents and other medical devices.
• Computational simulations: Computational fluid dynamics (CFD), finite element analysis (FEA), structural mechanics, and fluid–structure interaction (FSI), depending on project requirements.
• Open-source engineering: Working with tools such as OpenFOAM, FreeCAD, and CalculiX for simulation and design analysis.
• Prototyping and testing: Supporting 3D printing, prototype development, mechanical testing, and design validation.
• Engineering analysis: Evaluating structural integrity, deformation, flow behaviour, and mechanical performance to support medical device development.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Final-year Mechanical Engineering student.
• Strong interest in medical device design, computational engineering, and product development.
• Experience with 3D CAD modelling.
• Experience with mechanical design.
• Experience with engineering simulations.
• Familiarity with open-source engineering tools such as OpenFOAM, FreeCAD, and CalculiX is a significant advantage.
• Experience with SOLIDWORKS, ANSYS, or other CAD/CAE platforms is also welcome.
• Ability to solve complex engineering problems.
• Comfortable learning independently.
• Enthusiastic about applying engineering to healthcare innovation.
