Content Editor

About the Role

We're looking for a detail-oriented Content Editor to refine and adapt translated scripts for dubbed Chinese micro dramas. The ideal candidate should have an excellent command of Bahasa, Malay & English, with a strong understanding of storytelling, dialogue flow, and cultural localization. The Content Editor will ensure that translated dialogues sound natural, emotionally engaging, and are optimized for dubbing while preserving the original meaning and intent.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit and refine translated scripts to ensure they sound natural and conversational.
• Localize dialogues while preserving the original meaning, emotion, and narrative intent.
• Adapt culturally specific references, idioms, and expressions for Malaysian and Indonesian audiences.
• Ensure consistency in character names, relationships, terminology, and dialogue style throughout the series.
• Improve dialogue flow to match natural spoken language rather than literal translations.
• Modify dialogues to improve lip-sync compatibility wherever required.
• Maintain character-specific speech patterns, personality, and tone throughout the show.
• Ensure emotional accuracy across different scenes, including comedy, romance, action, suspense, and drama.
• Review scripts for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and sentence structure.
• Flag contextual inconsistencies, plot contradictions, or missing dialogues before dubbing.
• Meet daily production targets while maintaining high editorial quality.
• Ensure scripts are ready for AI-assisted or manual dubbing with minimal downstream corrections.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Literature, Mass Communication, Linguistics, Media, or a related field (preferred).
• Previous experience in content editing, localization, subtitling, script editing, publishing, or dubbing.
• Excellent command of English, Bahasa, and Malay languages.
• Strong grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills.
• Ability to rewrite literal translations into natural, engaging dialogue.
• Understanding of storytelling, character development, and dialogue pacing.
• Familiarity with localization principles and cultural adaptation.
• Strong attention to detail and consistency across long-form content.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Basic understanding of dubbing workflows and lip sync considerations is preferred.
• Comfortable working with AI-assisted editing and localization tools.

Nice to Have

• Experience with dubbing, voice-over, subtitling, or script adaptation.
• Familiarity with Chinese to Bahasa or multilingual localization workflows.
• Understanding of micro drama storytelling and short-form entertainment.
• Experience working with CAT tools, subtitle editors, or AI-assisted localization platforms.
• Ability to identify context, continuity, and emotional inconsistencies.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
