College Intern, Regulatory Affairs

About the Role

Salt River Project (SRP) is seeking a College Intern for a paid internship within its Regulatory Affairs department. This role provides hands-on experience in regulatory affairs, policy analysis, and compliance within the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on regulatory and policy issues impacting the electric utility industry.
• Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Monitor and analyze regulatory developments at the federal, state (Arizona Corporation Commission), and regional (California Independent System Operator, Southwestern Power Pool) levels.
• Support the development and implementation of regulatory strategies and compliance initiatives.
• Participate in meetings with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and other stakeholders.
• Provide administrative support to the Regulatory Affairs team.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Desire to learn about energy-related issues and their corresponding policy challenges and solutions.
• Ability to commit to working 15 to 40 hours per week.
• Adherence to department-established work schedules and location requirements (onsite, hybrid, or remote).
• Must live and work in Arizona.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
• Must maintain eligibility by remaining enrolled, successfully completing at least six (100 level or above) credit hours per semester (or equivalent academic term), and providing enrollment and academic documentation as requested.
• Preferred majors include Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, English, or a related field.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. SRP does not sponsor H1B visas, OPT, or other employment-related visas.
