About TaxPlan
TaxPlan Advisors is an early-stage, technology-enabled taxation and compliance platform, incubated by IIM Lucknow Enterprise Incubation Centre. They connect individuals and businesses with professionals for income tax, GST, TDS, accounting, ROC compliance, and advisory services.
The Opportunity
Seeking a marketing intern to research, think independently, develop practical strategies, and assist in their implementation. This hands-on role involves working directly with the founder and collaborating with growth strategy, technology, and marketing teams to build a marketing approach from its foundations, studying actual campaigns, customer behavior, and business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and Diagnose:
- Study services, customer segments, competitors, positioning, and pricing.
- Analyze previous campaigns, including unsuccessful experiments, to identify what worked, what did not, and what remains unproven.
- Investigate why inquiries, website visits, and initiated orders do not consistently convert into paying customers.
- Conduct customer interviews and structured feedback exercises to understand needs, objections, and purchase decisions.
- Develop Practical Marketing Strategies:
- Recommend priority customer segments, clear messages, and suitable acquisition channels.
- Prepare focused campaign plans covering the audience, offer, activities, budget, timeline, and success measures.
- Explore digital marketing, referrals, partnerships, communities, and institutional outreach.
- Work with the growth strategy team on service packages, repeat business, and cross-selling opportunities.
- Implement and Improve:
- Execute approved marketing experiments with relevant teams.
- Coordinate campaign content, landing pages, outreach, and lead follow-up.
- Work with the technology team to improve lead-source and conversion tracking.
- Monitor results, document learning, and recommend whether to continue, modify, or stop an experiment.
- Maintain a weekly action tracker and escalate obstacles promptly.
Expected Deliverables
- An evidence-based assessment of current marketing and customer-acquisition gaps.
- A prioritized marketing plan with clear execution responsibilities.
- Small, approved campaigns or experiments implemented and measured.
- A weekly report covering qualified leads, paying-customer conversions, campaign costs, and revenue where attribution is available.
- A final record of findings, tested approaches, and recommendations for the next stage.
Who Is Eligible?
- Current students specializing in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Business Management, or a closely related field at a recognized institute or university.
- Students from IIMs or equivalent management institutions are strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated strong research, analytical, and written communication skills.
- Understanding of customer segmentation, positioning, acquisition channels, and conversion funnels.
- Ability to work with spreadsheets and interpret campaign data.
- Evidence of practical execution through an internship, college initiative, live project, venture, or campaign.
- Willingness to speak with customers, test ideas, and take ownership of follow-through.
- Consistent availability for agreed working hours, meetings, and deliverables.
- Responsible handling of confidential business and customer information.
What You Will Learn
- Direct exposure to building marketing in an early-stage business.
- Learning from incomplete data and unsuccessful campaigns.
- Understanding customer economics.
- Testing acquisition strategies.
- Connecting marketing activity to commercial results.
- Access to relevant business information and founder feedback.
