We're looking for a Staff Accountant to perform complex accounting duties, applying professional knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and reconcile financial reports, accounting records, and supporting documentation to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions
• Apply accounting principles, financial management policies, procedures, and internal control requirements
• Monitor financial reporting and accounting activities to evaluate accuracy, reliability, and integrity of financial information
• Analyze accounting and financial issues, identify trends or problems, and develop recommendations to improve operations
• Provide accounting guidance and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including program officials and auditors

Qualifications

• Degree in accounting or related field with 24 semester hours in accounting (or qualifying combination of education and experience, or CPA/CIA)

Requirements & Tech Stack

• For GS-9: Experience performing account reconciliation, examining accounting processes per GAAP, and verifying accuracy of accounting data
• For GS-11: Experience reconciling general ledger accounts, analyzing automated accounting system issues, and preparing operational guidance/procedures

Preferred Skills

• CPA
• CIA

Additional Information

• Salary: $70,623 - $111,087/year (varies by grade)
• Location: Woodlawn, MD (Telework eligible)
• Grade Levels: GS-0510-9/11 (2 vacancies) — career ladder to GS-12
