About CWILL
CWILL (pronounced "quill") is a post-purchase and retention suite trusted by 30,000+ Shopify and DTC brands. Our products cover order tracking, returns and exchanges, shipping protection, loyalty and referrals, product reviews, pop-up and email marketing, AI chat, and SEO (cwill.com).
About The Project
We're preparing for our year-end strategy review and reassessing our pricing and plans. We're looking for a sharp, detail-oriented researcher for a focused, roughly one-month project. You'll map how our competitors price, package and serve their customers, and turn that into a clear, objective analysis that leadership will use to make decisions.
What You'll Do
- Map the competitive landscape for each CWILL product line: key competitors, their plans and pricing tiers, feature differences, service levels, and target customers
- Dig deeper into enterprise plans, discounts and contract terms through market research, product reviews, industry reports and customer conversations
- Analyze qualitatively and quantitatively: compare price per feature, pricing by merchant size, and gaps or opportunities in our own packaging
- Deliver a final report and presentation with clear recommendations for leadership, plus a structured comparison dataset we can keep updating
Timeline:
- Week 1: Agree on scope and the competitor list; set up the comparison framework
- Weeks 2-3: Collect data, run merchant interviews, and analyze
- Week 4: Write the final report and present findings to leadership
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Excellent written and spoken English, and familiarity with the US business environment
- Strong research and analytical skills: you can find reliable information, check sources and spot patterns
- Comfortable with spreadsheets and data analysis; SQL or BI tools are a plus
- Clear, structured writing; you can turn messy findings into a concise report
- Objective and rigorous: you compare on price, customer segment, features and service without bias
- Confident communicating with customers
- Comfortable using AI tools to speed up research, and careful about verifying what they produce
Nice to Have
- Interest or experience in SaaS, e-commerce or Shopify
- Experience in product management, consulting, market research or business analysis (including internships)
- Mandarin Chinese
Benefits
- Remote, one-month internship
- You'll work with shared documents and project spaces; no access to internal company systems is needed
- Strong performers will be considered for a return offer at the end of the internship
