Software Engineer, New Grad 2027

About the Role

New grad engineers are needed to join SpaceXAI software engineering teams. You will own real product work on user-facing surfaces such as Grok Bot, Cloud Agents, and Cursor, as well as the underlying systems. The role involves designing, building, and shipping products and systems that engineers find delightful and reliable. This position emphasizes a strong attention to detail, first principles reasoning, and excellent taste. You will tackle concrete problems, drive them end-to-end (from UI to backend when necessary), and aim to elevate standards of taste and correctness while working at a fast pace. You will collaborate within a small, talent-dense team with high ownership and minimal hierarchy. Strong fundamentals are crucial, as is judgment regarding the effective use of AI tools for leverage without compromising correctness.

Key Responsibilities

• Own real product work on user-facing surfaces like Grok Bot, Cloud Agents, and Cursor, and their supporting systems.
• Design, build, and ship delightful and bulletproof products and systems.
• Pick up concrete problems and drive them end-to-end, including UI and backend components.
• Raise the bar on taste and correctness while moving at a fast pace.
• Work alongside a small, talent-dense team with high ownership and little hierarchy.

Sample Projects Include

• Adding a small UI improvement to enhance the readability and review of AI-generated code or PRs.
• Transforming a teammate’s concept into a working prototype within days, followed by iteration based on feedback.
• Shipping a contained feature (frontend and backend), and subsequently fixing bugs and refining its user experience.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Graduating in Spring 2027.
• Background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proven track record of building something substantial (e.g., an app, OSS, or shipped product) that can be reviewed.
• Ability to blend strong engineering practices with the leverage of AI tools without sacrificing correctness.
• Demonstrated capacity for fast learning, taking ownership, and successfully completing meaningful challenging tasks early in your career (internships or equivalent industry experience are welcomed).
