About the Role
Ambitio is building India's first AI-powered global admissions platform. As an AI Engineer Intern, you will build the AI systems that students and internal teams rely on. Your role involves shipping LLM-powered agents and pipelines that work reliably in production, measuring their performance, and improving them. You will work closely with founders, product, and ops teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Build & Ship LLM Agents: Develop LLM-powered agents and pipelines from prototype to production.
- Evaluations: Define performance metrics, build evaluations, and improve quality using data.
- Python, Prompts & Retrieval: Work with Python services, prompts, tools, retrieval, and associated data.
- Monitoring & Iteration: Track production failures via logs and traces, debug issues, and manage cost and latency.
- Collaboration: Partner with founders, product, and ops teams to understand problems and deliver solutions.
- End-to-End Ownership: Identify issues, propose fixes, and implement them independently.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Strong Python and LLM fundamentals:
- Solid Python skills.
- Grasp of LLM behavior: prompting, tool use, structured outputs, cost, and latency trade-offs.
- Hands-on experience with at least one LLM API (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic).
- Working knowledge of SQL, APIs, and Git.
- Proof of Work: Submit a GitHub link, deployed project, or write-up of something real you've shipped beyond a RAG demo or tutorial, ideally used by people and involving debugging.
- Ownership & Proactiveness: Self-starter who identifies problems, asks questions, and supports opinions with evidence.
- Comfort with Ambiguity: Prefers rapid iteration with incomplete information.
- Communication: Ability to clearly explain technical decisions, failures, and trade-offs to non-technical teammates.
Good to Have
- Experience with evaluations (e.g., LLM-as-judge setups).
- Experience with agents in production or data pipelines.
- Exposure to vector databases or retrieval tuning.
- Experience in a startup or early-stage environment.
Qualifications
- Graduate/Post Graduation 2026, from IIT, NIT, IIIT, BITS, or equivalent Tier 1 institutes.
Location: Sector 6, HSR Layout, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560068
Job Type: Onsite (Monday to Friday, from office) and Virtual (Saturday)
Hours: 11 am to 8 pm
