Finance Associate

About the Role

MukkaMaar is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to empowering girls through long-term self-defense training. The Finance Associate is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai, responsible for supporting the organization’s financial operations in a precise and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and maintenance of financial statements.
• Track income and expenses.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Contribute to financial reporting for internal stakeholders and donors.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and relevant regulations.
• Collaborate with program and operations teams to provide financial insights.
• Reconcile accounts.
• Help maintain accurate documentation for audits and grant requirements.
• Support process improvements in finance workflows.
• Participate in the development of systems that strengthen MukkaMaar’s financial sustainability.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Proficiency with accounting or bookkeeping software, spreadsheets, and basic financial modeling.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Finance, with working knowledge of Financial Statements and Financial Reporting.
• Well-developed Analytical Skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and support decision-making.
• Effective Communication skills to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders and donors.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Attention to detail, integrity in handling financial information, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Experience in the not-for-profit or social impact sector is an advantage.
