Retirement Domain SME-Manager

About the Role

Working as part of the Consulting team, you will take part in engagements related to a wide range of topics in the retirement domain.

Key Responsibilities

• Defined Benefits Operations: Includes benefits calculations, benefits review, and benefits calculation for retirement, termination, disability, death, and divorce.
• ERISA Compliance: US Retirement Plan Testing (ADP & ACP Testing, Corrective Distribution) & Reporting experience.
• In-plan Guaranteed Income Products: Deep understanding of products like annuities within defined contribution plans (e.g., target date funds with income guarantees).
• Protected Retirement Solutions: Experience in designing or evaluating solutions through insurance-wrapped investment vehicles.
• Recordkeeping Platform Enhancements: Exposure to supporting in-plan income features, including income projection tools, guarantee tracking, and participant-level income illustrations.
• Money in and Loans: Handling money in & Loan related activities, including check processing, contributions, loan initiation, loan repayments, and re-amortization.
• Disbursements: Processing distributions/disbursements such as hardship withdrawals, QDRO, RMD, in-service distributions, and loans. Experience in processing 401K contributions and loan repayments.
• Plan Types: Understanding of business rules of Payout, Qualified/Non-Qualified Plans, Roth Conversion, Roth IRA, Fiduciaries, Defined Contribution, Defined Benefits/Pension.
• Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC): Exposure to PBGC study and Public Pensions.
• Plan Administration: Understanding of plan administration, group and account setup, and eligibility.
• Vesting and Investments: Understanding of vesting rules and investment management.
• Middle and Back-Office Processing: Knowledge of retirement account origination, servicing, funds payout, and reconciliation of funds.
• PMO Functions: Experience supporting or leading PMO functions for large-scale retirement transformation programs, including project planning, milestone tracking, risk management, and stakeholder reporting.
• Coordination: Proven ability to coordinate across business, technology, and vendor teams, ensuring alignment with project timelines, scope, and quality standards in retirement platform implementations or upgrades.

Consulting Skills

• Experience in creating business process maps for future state architecture and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for overall conversion strategy.
• Experience with requirements refinement processes in multi-vendor engagements.
• Worked on multiple Business Transformation and Modernization programs.
• Conducted Due-Diligence and Assessment projects as part of transformation roadmaps to evaluate current state maturity, gaps in functionalities, and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solution features.
• Requirements Gathering & Elicitation: Writing Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Functional Specification Documents (FSDs). Conducting Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions and workshops to capture requirements and working closely with Product Owners.
• Define the most optimal future state operational process and related product configuration.
• Define scope by providing innovative solutions and challenging new client requirements and change requests while ensuring client business value.
• Deliver clearly defined requirement documents with relevant dataflow and process flow diagrams.
• Analyze and extract functional enhancements by working closely with product design development teams.
• Provide product consultancy and assist clients with acceptance criteria gathering and support throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage service delivery within agreed service levels across multiple blended processes.
• Implement operational governance framework, quality review mechanisms, and communication strategies.

Technology Skills

• Proficient in technology solution architecture, focusing on designing innovative and effective solutions.
• Experienced in data migration projects, ensuring seamless data transfer while maintaining data integrity and security.
• Skilled in data analytics, utilizing various tools and techniques for insights and informed decision-making.
• Strong understanding of data governance principles and best practices.
• Collaborative team player, able to work closely with stakeholders and technical teams.

Qualifications

• Industry certifications such as ASPPA, LOMA, or RPF are an added advantage.
• Experience on solutions like ALIS, OMNI, Relius, NeoSpin, Vitech, or TRAC is preferable.
