Structural Draftsman Internship

About the Role

We are seeking a Structural Draftsman to join our structural design team. The role is ideal for individuals passionate about precision drafting and structural detailing across RCC, steel and composite structures. You will work closely with senior structural engineers and architects to develop accurate, professional drawings for residential, commercial, institutional and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities

Drafting & Detailing

• Prepare detailed structural drawings — plans, sections, elevations and layouts — for RCC, steel and composite structures.
• Interpret architectural and structural inputs to develop framing plans, beam-column layouts, footing plans, slab layouts and typical details.
• Draft connection details, steel fabrication drawings and reinforcement detailing as per engineer instructions and IS codes.
• Assist in converting architectural drawings to structural formats, identifying load paths and coordination challenges.

Drawing Production & Standards

• Create and manage viewports, model spaces and layout sheets with accurate scaling and professional presentation.
• Use Autodesk AutoCAD to prepare, organise and optimise drawings using dynamic blocks, attributes and layer management.
• Ensure all drawings adhere to project standards, drawing conventions and company templates.
• Develop animated 2D representations or walkthroughs for client presentations (optional but preferred).

Revisions & Documentation

• Coordinate and update drawing revisions based on design changes, site updates or client feedback.
• Maintain a clean drawing archive and backup system for all projects.

Requirements

Technical

• Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD (mandatory): 2D drafting, viewports, layout management, sheet sets, plotting and printing, layer and linetype control.
• Block creation and editing, including dynamic blocks and attributes.
• Understanding of structural systems (RCC, steel, composite) and elements — beams, columns, slabs, foundations and bracing.
• Ability to draft connection drawings: bolted, welded and base plate connections.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and coordinate them with structural design.
• Working knowledge of steel fabrication and RCC detailing principles; familiarity with IS codes preferred.
