Anaplan Model Builder

About the Role

The Anaplan Model Builder will design, build, test, deploy, and support scalable Anaplan solutions across Finance and the wider business. This role will translate business requirements into robust models, workflows, dashboards, and data structures, while supporting effective platform operation and continuous improvement. The role will support Anaplan use cases spanning corporate planning, budgeting, forecasting, client and product profitability, cash flow and liquidity forecasting, funding forecasts, management reporting, and scenario analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Model design and build: Develop modules, lists, hierarchies, calculations, dashboards, and user experiences using scalable, maintainable design principles.
• Requirements and solution design: Work with Finance and business stakeholders to translate planning and reporting needs into functional requirements, model designs, business rules, and acceptance criteria.
• Data and integration: Build and maintain imports, exports, actions, and processes; define source-data requirements; validate and reconcile data; investigate load failures with Technology and data teams.
• Testing and quality: Complete unit testing and support system, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing. Reconcile outputs, resolve defects, and retain appropriate evidence.
• Release and change management: Prepare model changes, impact assessments, release documentation, and deployment instructions within the agreed environment and governance framework.
• Platform support: Provide hands-on support for live models, recurring planning cycles, incidents, data issues, and performance problems. Maintain and optimize models and identify technical debt.
• Controls and governance: Maintain roles, selective access, validation controls, documentation, data dictionaries, and calculation definitions. Follow access, segregation-of-duties, and audit requirements.
• Adoption and knowledge transfer: Create intuitive user experiences, guides, and training materials; support demonstrations and adoption; capture knowledge from delivery partners and build internal capability.

Requirements & Tech Stack

• Essential
• Practical experience designing and building Anaplan models in a business environment.
• Strong knowledge of lists, modules, hierarchies, line items, actions, processes, and dashboards.
• Experience translating Finance or business requirements into model designs.
• Understanding of multidimensional modelling, data structures, and model performance.
• Experience with data imports, exports, transformation, validation, and reconciliation.
• Ability to diagnose calculation, data, model, and performance issues.
• Experience supporting testing, deployment, and live operational models.
• Understanding of planning, budgeting, forecasting, or management reporting.
• Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Preferred
• Anaplan Model Builder certification or equivalent demonstrable experience.
• Experience with FP&A, profitability, unit economics, cash flow, or liquidity models.
• Experience integrating Anaplan with ERP, data warehouse, or reporting platforms.
• Knowledge of Application Lifecycle Management and controlled deployment.
• Experience in Financial Services or another controlled or regulated environment.
• Understanding of Agile delivery, data governance, access controls, and audit requirements.
• Experience working with external implementation or managed-service partners.

Role Boundary

• Finance Systems Manager (Anaplan) owns platform strategy, roadmap, delivery governance, stakeholder alignment, supplier management, and overall platform outcomes.
• The Anaplan Model Builder owns the detailed design, build, testing, documentation, deployment support, and maintenance of assigned solutions.
• Business process owners approve requirements, assumptions, processes, and outputs.
