About the Role

Entry-level electrical or computer engineer who, as a member of the sales and technical team, helps drive customer adoption of AMD adaptive SoCs and FPGAs. The Associate FAE supports customer designs from initial architecture and device selection through development, debug, and production, while helping generate registrations, design wins, and associated solution opportunities. The role collaborates closely with customer engineering teams, AMD sales, Avnet sales, senior FAEs, and supplier partners to deliver responsive pre- and post-sales technical support. A willingness to relocate for career advancement is essential.

Key Responsibilities

AMD Technical Sales Strategy

  • Assist in developing account penetration plans focused on AMD adaptive SoCs, FPGAs, and embedded platforms within assigned markets and accounts.
  • Present AMD product capabilities, development platforms, reference designs, and evaluation solutions to current and prospective customers.
  • Translate customer system requirements into an AMD-focused technical value proposition that supports device selection and design engagement.

Customer Discovery and Architecture Support

  • Work with senior FAEs and customer engineers to understand system architecture, performance, power, I/O, memory, processing, security, lifecycle, and cost requirements.
  • Help identify the appropriate AMD device family and development approach for applications spanning programmable logic, embedded processing, DSP, AI acceleration, high-speed interfaces, and adaptive computing.
  • Build relationships with technical decision-makers, hardware engineers, FPGA designers, embedded software developers, and system architects.

Design Enablement and Technical Support

  • Support customer development using AMD Vivado Design Suite, Vitis software, embedded software tools, IP, evaluation boards, and technical documentation.
  • Assist with design entry, synthesis, implementation, timing closure, simulation, programming, hardware bring-up, and debug under the guidance of experienced FAEs and AMD resources.
  • Provide first-line technical support, reproduce issues when practical, document findings, and coordinate escalation with AMD and internal technical teams.
  • Develop and deliver demonstrations, proof-of-concept designs, workshops, and technical presentations that accelerate customer evaluation and adoption.

Complete Solution and Attach Strategy

  • Identify supporting solution needs around the AMD platform, including power, timing, memory, configuration, thermal management, connectivity, signal integrity, and board-level components.
  • Collaborate with Avnet specialists and supplier partners to build complete system solutions that improve customer outcomes and expand design-chain value.

Opportunity Management and Execution

  • Identify, qualify, register, and track AMD opportunities from concept through new product introduction and production.
  • Maintain accurate opportunity details, technical milestones, next actions, risks, and forecast inputs while communicating progress to customers, sales teams, AMD, and leadership.
  • Leverage AMD and Avnet resources to resolve roadblocks, advance evaluations, and improve conversion of technical engagements into design wins and revenue.

Training and Market Development

  • Complete assigned AMD product, tool, and application training and work toward relevant technical certifications.
  • Deliver product and tool training to Avnet sales teams and customers and share market feedback, competitive observations, and emerging application needs.
  • Continuously build expertise in digital design, FPGA architecture, embedded systems, high-speed interfaces, and customer-facing technical sales.

Requirements & Tech Stack

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.
  • Foundational knowledge of digital logic, computer architecture, embedded systems, and board-level electronics.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly through written communication, presentations, demonstrations, and customer discussions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, accountability, and willingness to learn in a customer-facing environment.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned territory and willingness to relocate for career advancement.

Qualifications

  • Academic, internship, laboratory, or project experience with FPGAs, programmable logic, or embedded SoC development.
  • Exposure to Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL and familiarity with simulation, synthesis, timing analysis, or hardware debug.
  • Exposure to AMD Vivado, Vitis, adaptive SoCs, Zynq SoCs or MPSoCs, Versal adaptive SoCs, or related FPGA development platforms.
  • Familiarity with C/C++, Python, Tcl, Linux, Git, embedded software, and common laboratory equipment.
  • Understanding of common interfaces and protocols such as Ethernet, PCI Express, DDR memory, SPI, I2C, UART, USB, or high-speed serial transceivers.
