About This Role
We are looking for an early-career Electrical Design Engineer for our Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) group. This role involves applying your technical foundation to the design and development of a modern enrichment plant and its associated test systems and prototypes.
You will help design, document, and integrate electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for process equipment, test stands, and R&D setups. You will gain hands-on exposure across the full engineering lifecycle, from schematic design and control panel layout through wiring, integration, testing, and commissioning, working closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and evaluate electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for process equipment, test stands, prototypes, and R&D systems, with a primary focus on electrical design.
- Produce control panel schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, I/O documentation, and harness documentation using electrical CAD tools such as EPLAN Electric P8.
- Support the design of UL508A-style control panels and SIL-rated safety-instrumented systems under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Help specify and integrate instrumentation, field devices, PLCs, and industrial communications networks (e.g., EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus, CAN bus).
- Support build, wiring, integration, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems in the lab and in the field.
- Develop technical documentation and specifications for internal use, vendors, and contractors, maintaining clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
- Collaborate closely with and receive mentorship from senior engineers, gaining hands-on experience across advanced electrical design, controls, and system integration.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar discipline.
- Evidence of exceptional ability (prior projects, portfolio of work, completed products, etc.).
- Strong understanding of one or more of the following: electrical systems architecture, circuit design, I&C systems, industrial controls, and/or power systems.
- Ability to perform trade studies and make clear recommendations using first principles and engineering fundamentals even with partial information.
- Experience in a fast-paced engineering environment or a highly technical role requiring a resourceful, entrepreneurial approach to complete tasks within tight timeframes or budget constraints.
- Hands-on design or build experience with electrical and control systems (research, extracurricular, or internship projects qualify).
- Exposure to electrical CAD tools such as EPLAN Electric P8 — a strong plus.
- Familiarity with control panel design, wiring, or industrial instrumentation.
- Some exposure to PLC or structured-text programming.
- Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards.
- Comfortable quickly learning new tools, analysis methods, and system topologies.
- Maintains high standards of technical documentation, and proactively communicates progress and risks in a culture of transparency.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
- Ability to come into our office every day. This role is 100% on site and in person.
- Currently a US Citizen with capability to obtain and maintain a US Q clearance.
