- Facilitate structured problem-solving activities (e.g., 5-Why, fishbone, PPS/8D) and ensure containment, root cause, and systemic corrective actions are executed and documented.
- Partner with manufacturing, maintenance, and engineering to drive built-in quality (BIQ) practices, error-proofing, standardized work, and layered process audits.
- Support launch and change management activities (e.g., PPAP, run-at-rate, trials) to ensure quality requirements are defined, validated, and sustained in production.
- Collaborate with suppliers and SQE to address incoming material issues, define containment, and implement durable corrective actions.
- Support control plan development and maintenance, including reaction plans for key characteristics and special process controls.
- Lead or support internal and external quality investigations related to customer concerns, warranty, and field issues; develop and implement improvement plans.
- Maintain quality documentation and records in accordance with established QMS and regulatory requirements.
- Champion a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within assigned areas.
- Lead Team of Hourly UAW Quality Team Members.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Relevant experience in quality, manufacturing, or process engineering within an industrial or automotive environment.
- Demonstrated experience with structured problem-solving methods (e.g., 5-Why, 8D/PPS) and effective corrective action implementation.
- Working knowledge of core quality tools such as control plans, FMEA, MSA, and SPC.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical standards.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with data, identify trends, and develop data-driven recommendations.
- Proven ability to collaborate and influence across functions (operations, engineering, maintenance, suppliers).
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings and drive alignment.
- Self-directed, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Flexibility and the ability to work overtime and off shifts as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with transmission, powertrain, or similarly complex assemblies and manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on experience with launch, PPAP, APQP, and change management activities.
- Prior involvement with built-in quality systems, layered process audits, and error-proofing design.
- Familiarity with customer-specific quality requirements and OEM expectations.
- Proficiency with quality and data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, Power BI, or similar).
