Role Description

A part-time, remote role responsible for organizing and supporting the volunteer team that delivers URI’s programs and activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Recruiting, onboarding, and scheduling volunteers for workshops, events, and outreach initiatives.
• Developing and delivering basic volunteer training.
• Providing ongoing guidance to volunteers.
• Ensuring volunteers have clear roles and expectations.
• Maintaining volunteer records.
• Coordinating communications.
• Collaborating with URI leaders to match volunteers with suitable opportunities.
• Strengthening community outreach and engagement.
• Ensuring a positive and inclusive experience for all volunteers.

Qualifications

• Strong volunteer management and volunteer training skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience or interest in community outreach and engagement.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, part-time environment.
• Proficiency with basic digital tools (e.g., email, spreadsheets, collaboration platforms).
• Prior experience in student organizations, nonprofit work, or event coordination; experience in academic or research settings is an asset.
