About Openhouse

Openhouse is the most premium merch company in the world, designing and manufacturing custom branded products for world-class brands. Proudly headquartered in New York State, with our team in Brooklyn and Kingston.

The Role

We are hiring our first in-house content creator, part-time (15 to 20 hours a week). You will film and edit the stories behind our work, reporting to the Head of Marketing and owning the production side of the content calendar. Every story shot will become a short video, a LinkedIn post, and an article on our site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan the week's story with the Head of Marketing against the content calendar.
  • Film on location in Brooklyn: product, people, process, and client pieces in use.
  • Edit one main video and two to three short cuts, sized for each platform, plus the founder's LinkedIn video for the week.
  • Hand off stills, clips, and notes for the LinkedIn post and the site article.
  • Add captions and on-screen text that match our voice: direct, confident, no fluff.
  • Maintain a clean, labeled library of footage for the team.
  • Review monthly performance and propose ideas for future shoots.

Content Series Examples

  • Client stories: how a brand's merch program came together.
  • Design stories: Head of Design walks through a client project and design choices.
  • Product stories: why specific pieces are made.
  • Tag and label design: focus on details.
  • Apparel design: behind the scenes with the apparel design partner.
  • Client concepting: how the Head of Marketing builds a concept.
  • Founder stories: build the founder's LinkedIn into a personal brand.
  • Partner collabs: short films with brand and creator partners.

Each story ships as one main video, short cuts for Instagram and LinkedIn, and footage and stills for the written piece.

Requirements & Tech Stack

  • Portfolio of short-form video shot and edited by you.
  • Strong filming and editing skills: lighting, sound, framing, pacing.
  • Proficiency with Premiere, Final Cut, or CapCut.
  • An eye for product; ability to make fabric, texture, and craft look good on screen.
  • Comfort filming individuals not accustomed to being on camera.
  • Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn; understanding of current platform trends.
  • Ability to make a brand feel native on social platforms.
  • Reliable and self-directed; able to hit weekly deadlines.
  • Based in or near New York City with the ability to travel to Brooklyn and Kingston for shoots.

Qualifications

  • Early-career creators with a strong portfolio are welcome.

Details

  • Hours: Part-time, 15 to 20 hours a week.
  • Reports to: Head of Marketing.
  • Location: New York City area (editing can be remote).
  • Pay: $35 to $55 per hour (based on experience).
  • Type: Contractor.
  • Start Date: January 2027.
