About the Role
YC-backed defense AI startup scaling rapidly (60% MoM growth, profitable, $1M ARR in 8 months, $3.3M raised). Building an AI platform to help defense suppliers win government contracts. Hiring a Founding Engineer to own significant parts of the stack, ship fast, and collaborate directly with customers on mission-critical defense technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Ship full-stack features daily (70/30 backend/frontend bias, comfortable across the stack).
- Build AI agents and LLM-based workflows into production systems.
- Engage with users (defense companies, military stakeholders) and translate feedback into product decisions.
- Tackle challenging, ambiguous problems with significant national-security impact.
- Work in-person in San Francisco, with occasional travel to DC/military bases.
Requirements & Tech Stack
- Strong background in React, Next.js, Python.
Qualifications
- 0–4 Years of Experience (flexible up to 7 for exceptional talent).
- Background as an ex-technical founder, founding CTO/CPO, or Forward Deployed Engineer is a significant plus.
- Demonstrates hunger, a fast-moving builder mentality, and thrives with agency, feedback, and ambiguity.
- Must be a US citizen.
