About the Role
The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) and Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO) are seeking college students for the 2027 summer season for a paid internship. The hourly rate will be $20.00/hr. This internship is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on exposure to a professional work environment within Transit Services - PATCO.
Key Responsibilities
- Passenger Counts/Traffic Checks
- Digitize handwritten data/reports
- Attend various departmental meetings
- Perform statistical analyses of passengers
- Employee File and Paperwork Organization
- Participate in any ongoing departmental activities/training
- Gain experience by overseeing operations at PATCO Center Tower
- Assist the Technical Supervisor, Transit Services in departmental/organizational improvements
- Learn the rules of the railroad and procedures of Center Tower operations
Requirements & Tech Stack

Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Successful completion of a pre-employment evaluation which includes drug (including marijuana) and alcohol testing.
- Successful completion of a criminal background investigation.
- Home residence must be located within DRPA’s Port District (Pennsylvania counties: Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Philadelphia; New Jersey counties: Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Ocean, Salem).
- Be available to work in-person, full-time, 40 hours per week, for the entire 10-week period, from June 7, 2027, through August 13, 2027.
- Submit an official college or university transcript verifying full-time enrollment in an undergraduate degree program during both the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters. The transcript must verify completion of at least 24 credits total, including a minimum of 12 credits in Fall 2026 and Spring 2027.
- Submit official college or university documentation verifying full-time enrollment in an undergraduate degree program for the Fall 2027 semester, with a minimum of 12 credits.
- Official transcript submission deadline upon acceptance: June 15, 2027.
- Preferred: Public Transportation or city planning coursework.
Work Details
- Work Location: Lindenwold Control Center, Lindenwold, NJ
- Work Hours: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, including a paid lunch hour.
- Internship Duration: 10 weeks, June 7, 2027 - August 13, 2027.
